LIFE LESSONS COUPLE TRAVEL HAS TAUGHT US | TRAVEL ADVICE

EXPERIENCES, INSPIRATION, TRAVEL TIPS

We are the couple traveling the world hand in hand. Nothing like it! When we had initially started traveling together never had we thought that 3 years later, we would enjoy it so much that it would become more of a profession for us.

Today, I would love to share a few good things about traveling together as a couple. From my own experience, I can vouch for the fact that couple travel is the most amazing thing, two married people can do!

NO FIGHTS OVER PETTY STUFF

After many years of dating and 3 years of marital bliss, I can say that traveling has significantly changed the two of us. I remember the first time we traveled together to Ibiza for our honeymoon, we were literally yelling at each other for every little mistake we made (and mind you we made lots of them). It was like a new adventure for both of us. But once we started to adjust to the new equation of living with each other 24×7, we started appreciating each other more.

We understood that situations, outside traveling, can get little chaotic as well. As life is all about ups and downs, we clasp each other tightly through thick and thin and try to make the most of our experiences. Traveling taught us patience.

We don’t sweat the small stuff now! Instead give each other space even while traveling and respect each other’s travel styles.

MORE LIFE LESSONS

  • As a couple traveling the world together we have realized that how much planning we both might do, we always end up exploring places spontaneously. On our recent visit to Switzerland we had decided to stick to our plan and explore just a few places near our Airbnb. We ended up visiting Zermatt, Rigi, Interlaken, Trubsee, Zurich, and Schilthorn. So now you know our travel style?
  • Not just self-discovery, planning romantic vacations together can help you discover your partner’s strengths, weaknesses, liking, tastes, and interests, which is quite healthy in the long run of a relationship.
  • Understanding surely goes a notch higher and patience level increases.
  • With traveling comes a better understanding as two people get a chance to indulge in better communication. Really long, valuable talks that start on a common topic often end up going on till wee morning hours sitting in front of a gorgeous landscape and you don’t even realize how gorgeous everything is.
  • The spark of romance never dies down and the relationship remains healthy.

I agree that traveling with your partner totally grows your patience with eachother! Our patience is being tested almost daily while traveling, it’s exhausting, you’re always lost (usually), and you are often put outside of your comfort zone! I believe the true test to a relationship is whether or not you can travel together long term! It will make or break you!

Traveling together does keep the relationship fresh. There is always something new to look forward to and share new experiences, both good and bad. This helps in strengthening bonds and ensures an enduring relationship.

Agree. Travel takes the tensions of daily chore off your shoulders and for once you can simply relax and enjoy together. There is a new level of excitement, a new beginning every time you hit a new destination together

Great to hear about more couples who enjoy travelling together. Me and my husband have been travelling together for nearly 20 years now and there is no-one I would prefer to wander the world with. We bicker at times and occasionally we will head off for a few hours of time alone but we would never consider going anywhere without each other now. Like you mention, we have now developed a travel style that works well for us so why change it.

  5. I totally agree with this – I think that if you can travel together, you’re pretty much set for any situation life can throw at you – I’ve always said traveling together with either make or break a couple!! One of my big things I try to remember in our travels as a couple is that we don’t always have to be tied at the hip – sometimes we cherish some alone time, especially since you’re normally with them 24/7 when you’re away 🙂

Agreed! The longer we travel with each other, the closer we get and the deeper our love grow! However there are challenges traveling with a partner but in the end you get over all of them because you know nothing is more important than your love for each other.

It’s good to know how you grow very well with your relationship. I hope that you can conquer the globe together too! cheers and safe travels to you! <3

Traveling as a couple or with friends does allow bonding among individuals. I totally agree with what you have written, especially the part about sharing your passion with the one that is most important to you.

  9. Sia says:

It is great that you now make the most of every experience and situation. This is actually an amazing attitude toward life in general not just travel and I am happy to see that this is just another thing that travelling can teach you. It is always great to travel with like-minded people if you are not lucky enough to have found your soulmate already 🙂

I wish I had a partner to tag along every time I went (or at least most of the times) . I second what you say here. Having travelled a lot with friends before deciding to go solo I agree that travelling with someone helps you understand your friends/partner and yourself in a different light as compared to day to day lives when not travelling

  11. Joan Torres says:

Yes, I always wondered why all travel couple bloggers always stay together, but you are totally right, both share a huge passion that sticks with them for life. A great reflection!

  12. A lot of good points there! I believe that traveling is also one kind of a survival game, since we often are in foreign countries with strange circumstances. That probably makes couples very close, and trusting. Very good topic!

  13. Swati & Sam says:

We love to travel together and cannot agree more with you. Traveling together has helped us in sharing responsibilities and planning well. When we have to travel alone, we tend to miss the other person and do not enjoy our travels that much.
