RETURN TO RUSTIC ROMANCE AT THE RENAISSANCE AMSTERDAM

AMSTERDAM, EUROPE, HOTELS, REVIEWS

There is something to be said about places that still retain a rustic charm, of a world that is quaint, comfy, and beautiful. Waking up to delicious, beaming sunlight in the lush decadence of a king-size hotel bed never gets old. Our stay at the Renaissance Amsterdam Hotel was testament to the addictive nature of such glorious mornings, the lazy romance of which is certainly unparalleled.b

THE HEART OF THE CITY

The Renaissance Hotel Amsterdam is located at the heart of the bustling city’s historic canal district, a stone’s throw away from its most famous attractions. It is merely a block away from Central Station, which makes it the perfect base for first-time visitors here.

The best thing about Renaissance is that it is a short-walk away from Dam Square, the Anne Franke Home, and the Amsterdam City Center. The lattermost, in particular, is a great place to walk around, observe the local architecture, and also partake in the city’s exciting nightlife. In fact, we were constantly in a dilemma – leave the luxuriant room to explore Amsterdam or stay-in and enjoy the tranquil comfort of it? Tough choice, isn’t it?

Renaissance Amsterdam – This hotel is Just so cool

FIT FOR A QUEEN

The rooms at the Renaissance Hotel are furnished to keep you blissfully relaxed. The 402 rooms have been done up with blue accents in terms of décor, and ergonomically arranged furniture. The rooms are  modern, with top-class amenities such as LCD TVs, plush bedding, and high-speed internet.

The washrooms are sparklingly clean with fancy fitments. My favourite part was the TOKYOMILK bathroom products which smelled absolutely heavenly!

All-in-all, I’d say, the rooms here are far superior to other Amsterdam hotels, with the right balance of the old and the new.

FEASTING ALL DAY LONG

You have loads of delectable dining options at the Renaissance Amsterdam Hotel. We enjoyed at their lovely Scossa restaurant and the Italian cuisines. But the gastronomic highlight was our sumptuous meal at KoepelCafe.

This Dutch eatery has a youthful, café ambiance and a wonderful selection of local dishes and drinks. We ate with abandon and often spent more than the usual mealtime, lounging in the serenity of this food haven. The hotel also has a coffee house and the 2b Lounge Bar, both of which, are well-frequented and always bustling with energy.

The meals we ate at Renaissance Amsterdam Hotel were rather delectable. No wonder we developed a more fond palate for Dutch cuisine.

ALL YOU NEED

In terms of the amenities available to guests, there is no disappointment lurking in the shadows. There’s a well-equipped fitness center, 24-hour room service, and great housekeeping staff too. Parking and valet services are also available, which is great for those on a road-trip. Add to that, the fact that the hotel staff is courteous and ever-helpful, which is my opinion, is sometimes severely lacking in the best of such places.

The Concierge Service was also prompt and satisfactory. In fact, we left logistical arrangements such as car rentals and tourist services to be handled by the hotel, and it was smooth sailing indeed. Small conveniences such as in-house currency exchange can add to the amazing experience at the Amsterdam Renaissance Hotel.

THE NITTY-GRITTIES OF IT

The hotel staff is pretty cooperative in providing an Express Checkout, if required. Amsterdam Airport is about 12km away from the hotel, and the train station is 0.43km away.
